I think everyone is looking forward to the end of another challenging year! Despite the busyness at this time, a quick performance review is very useful and will support planning the year ahead.
Annual performance improvement reviews typically focus on results delivered and a reflection on strategy, execution and people impacts.
A performance is review is made easier by having a simple “how to” framework as outlined below.
Focus
- What important goals did you set
- What are the improvement trends
- What are your conclusions on results
Align plans
- Which solutions delivered / failed
- Did capability and skills match demands
- What are your planning conclusions
Steady flow
- Was there a steady flow of activity
- Was change effectively delivered
- What are your conclusions on execution
Track
- Did momentum and commitment steadily increase
- Were real time reports used to improve decision making
- Are the business and its people in a better place than a year ago
An informal review can take place in 1-2 hour meetings, with a focus on learning. More information on the FAST framework is available at: fasterresults.net.nz
